Each organization screens its own volunteers

Every organization that posts a listing on Volunteer Clinton County is solely responsible for its own volunteer recruitment, screening, onboarding, supervision, and dismissal decisions. Volunteer Clinton County does not conduct background checks, verify volunteer suitability, or make placement decisions on behalf of any organization.

Organizations are responsible for determining what clearances, training, age requirements, physical requirements, or other prerequisites are appropriate for their specific volunteer activities — and for communicating those requirements clearly in their listings.

Clearances and background checks

Pennsylvania law requires specific background clearances for many volunteer roles involving children, seniors, and other vulnerable populations. Common required clearances include:

• PA State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH)
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance (ChildLine)
• FBI Criminal History Background Check (for volunteers who are not PA residents for the past 10 years)

Clearance requirements are the responsibility of the organization and the volunteer. Volunteer Clinton County does not verify whether a listing's clearance requirements are correct or current. If in doubt, contact the organization and consult the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Volunteer Clearances guidance.

Court-ordered community service

Some listings are marked as accepting court-ordered volunteers. This designation is self-reported by the organization and is not verified by Volunteer Clinton County.

If you have a court-ordered community service requirement, you are solely responsible for ensuring that:

• The specific organization and opportunity are approved by your court or probation officer.
• You obtain required documentation from the organization (sign-in sheets, supervisor signatures, etc.).
• You comply with all conditions of your order or supervision.

Volunteer Clinton County does not communicate with courts, probation offices, or supervising agencies. We cannot verify or certify that any placement meets your legal requirements.

Listing accuracy

Listings are submitted by third parties. Volunteer Clinton County does not independently verify the accuracy, currency, or legitimacy of any listing, and does not confirm that any listed organization is still active. Volunteer needs, requirements, schedules, and contact information change frequently. Always contact the organization directly before showing up, and confirm that the opportunity is still available and that the details you read are current.

Liability

Volunteer Clinton County is provided as a free public directory on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Volunteer Clinton County, its operators, and contributors shall not be liable for any injury, loss, damage, harm, or claim of any kind arising from or related to:

• your use of this website;
• your reliance on any listing or information;
• your communication or dealings with any organization listed;
• your participation in any volunteer activity, board role, or community service placement;
• the donation, condition, receipt, or use of any goods; or
• any act or omission of any listed organization.
