Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Volunteer Clinton County (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, organization account holders, and administrators.

2. What the Service is

Volunteer Clinton County is a free online directory connecting residents of Clinton County, Pennsylvania with local nonprofits, schools, libraries, civic groups, faith communities, and other organizations seeking volunteers, board members, and donated goods. The Service is operated by Volunteer Clinton County.

The Service does not process volunteer applications, conduct background checks, screen volunteers or organizations, place volunteers, manage hours, certify service, or act as an employer, agency, or sponsor. Any relationship is between you and the organization. We are a directory, not a placement service.

3. User responsibilities and assumption of risk

You use the Service at your own risk. As a user, you agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms.
• Contact organizations directly and represent yourself honestly.
• Obtain any required clearances, permissions, or documentation before beginning any volunteer activity.
• Not use the Service to harass, spam, defame, or deceive organizations or other users.
• Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.

You acknowledge that participation in any volunteer activity, donation drive, board position, or event listed on the Service involves inherent risks, including but not limited to risks of physical injury, property damage, emotional distress, financial loss, or other harm. You assume all such risks. You release and forever discharge Volunteer Clinton County from any and all claims, demands, damages, and liabilities, known or unknown, arising from or relating to any volunteer activity, contact with a listed organization, or other use of the Service.

4. Organization responsibilities, content license, and indemnification

Organizations that create accounts and post listings on this Service agree to:

• Provide truthful, accurate, and current information in all listings and profile information.
• Keep listings up to date and promptly remove or update listings that are no longer active or accurate.
• Conduct their own volunteer recruitment, screening, orientation, supervision, and dismissal. The directory is not a substitute for appropriate volunteer management.
• Comply with all applicable laws regarding the use of volunteers, including those related to background clearances, minimum age requirements, mandatory reporting, and workplace safety.
• Be authorized to act on behalf of the organization for which the account is registered.

Our Posting Guidelines describe the kinds of listings that fit the directory. The Guidelines are guidance, not a binding contract. Volunteer Clinton County may remove any listing or terminate any account at its sole discretion for any reason or no reason.

Content license. By submitting content to the Service (including listings, organization profiles, descriptions, images, logos, and contact information), you grant Volunteer Clinton County a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, and irrevocable license to use, display, reproduce, modify, format, adapt, distribute, and remove that content for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the Service. You retain ownership of your content and may request its removal at any time, subject to the backup retention described in our Privacy Policy. You represent that you have all rights necessary to grant this license and that your content does not infringe on any third party's rights.

Indemnification. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Volunteer Clinton County from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) content you submit to the Service; (b) your use of the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any applicable law; or (e) any volunteer activity, placement, or interaction that results from your listing or use of the Service.

5. No obligation to review; no warranties

Listings, organization profiles, and other content on the Service are provided by third-party organizations and users. Volunteer Clinton County has no obligation to review, screen, verify, monitor, fact-check, or moderate any content submitted to the Service. We may, in our sole discretion and without obligation or notice, remove, edit for formatting, decline to publish, or refuse to display any content for any reason or no reason. Choosing to take or not take such action does not create any duty to do so in the future.

We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the availability, accuracy, currency, completeness, safety, legality, or quality of any listing, organization, or volunteer opportunity.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. VOLUNTEER CLINTON COUNTY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

6. No agency; Section 230; limitation of liability

No agency. Volunteer Clinton County is not the agent, partner, employer, joint venturer, representative, or sponsor of any listed organization or any volunteer. No listing, contact, or interaction facilitated through the Service creates any such relationship. The Service is a directory only.

Section 230. Volunteer Clinton County is an interactive computer service as defined in Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. § 230). We are not the publisher or speaker of any content provided by third parties through the Service.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Volunteer Clinton County shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including but not limited to damages for personal injury, property damage, lost time, lost opportunity, or emotional distress — arising from or relating to your use of the Service, any listing, any contact with a listed organization, or any volunteer activity you undertake as a result of using the Service. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

7. Termination

Volunteer Clinton County may suspend or terminate any account, remove any listing, or restrict access to the Service at its sole discretion, with or without notice, with or without cause, and without any liability to the affected user or organization.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in or serving Clinton County, Pennsylvania, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

9. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Volunteer Disclaimer, and Posting Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and Volunteer Clinton County regarding your use of the Service.

10. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
